Smooth Opening for the 2008-2009 School Year

Orientation and the first few days of preschool was a total success! All the high school teachers and the preschool children settled into their new routines beautifully! The first theme "Shapes, Colors, and Textures" is off to a great start. Ten school days are required to complete one theme, so there should be tons of theme work coming home soon.

Birthdays and Seasonal Activities

On the second day of preschool we celebrated our first birthday as Shea turned 5! Shea's mom sent in cupcakes which were enjoyed by all the children, and several lucky teachers. Happy birthday Shea!

It is wonderful to get the chance to share our birthday celebrations with each other during school. Please remember to keep all our birthday treats "nut free" so everyone can celebrate together.

Our Costume Parade is scheduled for Thursday October 30, 2008. We will be parading and collecting goodies from the Media Center, the Main Office, the Guidance Department and nine other class rooms on all three levels of the school. Plenty of pictures will be taken and uploaded to the Internet for families to share the fun! No treats will be sampled at school. Everything will come home for parent inspection and approval. Good times!

Field Trip Alert

Our annual trip to Butler's Orchard in Germantown, Maryland is scheduled for Wednesday October 29, 2008. The trip will cost $10.00 and includes bus transportation to and from the farm and entrance to the harvest festival. We will take a tractor driven hay ride through the woods to the pumpkin patch, where each visitor will get to select their own head sized pumpkin from from the field and will also get to enjoy two freshly harvested apples. We plan on romping in the hay barn, sliding down the giant sliding board on burlap bags, wander through the corn maze, play on the equipment, and visit the farm animals. After we enjoy our home packed lunches we will board the bus to come back to school where parents will be greeted by happy, tired kids desperately in need of a bath!
