Child Development Internship and Completer ProgramA course completer program (which can substitute for foreign language credit toward a high school diploma) is available within the FACS Child Development content area. This program articulates with Montgomery College and can earn up to NINE college credits toward a degree in Early Childhood Education.Other benefits include:
Students may enroll in the internship program without taking advantage of the completer option. The internship extends learning from Child Development to different ages, levels, and types of children. Students work under teacher supervision with children and adults one or more periods a day at a field site. Placement opportunities include early childhood, elementary, and special education programs as well as day care centers. Career skills and professionalism are enhanced through creative projects with children in a work site relating to child development careers. Students meet with the Child Development teacher at the high school site weekly for professional seminar activities. Students must provide their own transportation to the field site. What Do I Need To Do? To be eligible for the completer program, a student must complete three credits of Child Development in addition to the completion of Child Development 1A and 1B.
