Studio Art 1 & 2
Studio Art. 1 A -1/2 credit
Prerequisite: I credit of Fundamentals of Art or Drawing and Design or 1/2 credit of Fundamentals of Art and 1/2 credit in any other art elective.
Students will continue to study the principles of composition and use the elements of design through drawing, painting, printmaking, and/or sculpture. References to art masterpieces and current artists work will reinforce these learning's.5 Students will have an opportunity to exhibit their work.
Studio Art. I B - 1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Attainment of outcomes of Studio Art IA.
Students apply exercises in drawing, design, color theory, perspective, and three- dimensional form to their drawings, paintings, prints, and/or sculptures. Natural forms and works of artists from a variety of cultures are analyzed and serve as a source of design. Some students' work is matted or framed for exhibit. begin to develop a personal style.
Studio Art. 2A - Grades 11-12 - 1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Attainment of the outcomes of Studio Art. IA and IB
Students concentrate on a collection of sketches using a preferred medium and showing details of composition. These sketches serve as a reference for several paintings, prints, or sculptures, some of which are prepared for exhibit. Realistic, abstract, and nonobjective styles are studied.
Studio Art. 2B - Grades 11-12 - 1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Attainment of the outcomes of Studio Art. 2A
Students add to their collection of sketches and compile photo clippings of forms that are of personal interest. Drawings, paintings, prints, and/or sculptures are developed from these references. Classroom reading assignments and visual technology serve as the basis for discussing historically significant art styles and periods.
