  • Sports Plus - Volunteer at any of their spring programs detailed in their flyer - UPDATED 5-12 with Summer opportunities.
  • Thurgood Marshall ES - School Fair on Sunday May 18th - volunteers are needed - information about the event and contact information is available!
  • Darnestown Elementary Summer Help - a handful of students are needed to assist with Darnestown Elementary's pre-packaged school supplies kits.  The job will entail anywhere from 8- 10 hours total.  On Wed. August 20th approx. 4-5 hours on site at Darnestown Elementary to unload and check in inventory coming off a delivered palette from Innisbrook, which will then need to be organized by grade, by class, by student.   On Mon. Aug. 25th another 4-5 hours during Open house when the parents come to pick up their student kits.  Then what ever kits weren’t picked up by the parents will need to be delivered to the classroom teacher of that specific child.  Please contact Laura Osborne at 301-987-5463 or by email at LauraOsborneMD@hotmail.com

  • Be a Camp Counselor - VisArts at Rockville is looking for Volunteers for our Kids Create Visual Arts Summer Camps. Camp runs all summer in our new location in Rockville Town Center. Our campers range in age from 5-15 years old. We are seeking responsible, energetic teens interested in helping the teacher with the art projects and assist the campers. We require that volunteers be 15 or older by the summer.   • Jones Lane Tutors - Do you like kids? Passion for Learning, Inc. is looking for volunteers to tutor second grader s one-on-one once each week at Jones Lane. Volunteers would tutor after school on either Tuesdays or Thursdays, starting in October. Volunteers receive training and work from a step by step handbook with the children.   • Gaithersburg Help - Community Service Hours can be earned by packing groceries at Gaithersburg Help. You will earn approximately 2.5 hours each time you volunteer. Please contact Jeannine Langston call her at home 301-212-9696 or on her cell 240-417-4240 to set up dates and times.
  • Big Buddy-Little Buddy Program - The Big Buddy-Little Buddy mentoring program is looking for Teens in Charge! High school students pair up with elementary and middle school whose families live in homeless shelters for recreational, educational, and community service activities. Seneca Creek State Park, ice skating, and other fun destinations are places you and your "Little Buddy" will visit. You must commit to three hours a week for a complete session. Two sessions are offered - October-March, and January-June. Print out an application or get a paper copy from the SSL bulletin board in the red hallway, 2nd floor.
